Invitation to UVM Faculty: UVM Press Faculty Advisory Board

The UVM Press invites current UVM faculty members to serve on the UVM Press Faculty Advisory Board, which provides vital input into UVM Press-published book titles and topics.

The University of Vermont Press seeks experienced University of Vermont faculty members to fill two vacant seats on the UVM Press Faculty Advisory Board, which helps shape the direction of the press’s book publishing arm by providing vital input on peer-reviewed manuscripts that are under consideration.

Members of the UVM Press Faculty Advisory Board review and vote to publish manuscripts vetted by the UVM Press books editorial staff and endorsed for publication by at least two peer reviewers. Board members consider manuscripts on a rolling basis and are not expected to attend in-person meetings. New members will be appointed in May 2026 and serve two-year terms ending in May 2028.

Faculty from all disciplines are welcome to express interest. Board members are not required to have any specific expertise; the group includes faculty from schools and departments who together represent the scholarly expertise of the faculty as a whole.

Operating under the auspices of the UVM Libraries, the UVM Press publishes peer-reviewed and scrupulously edited scholarship under a diamond open access model that ensures free readership, free authorship, and immediate, online, global access. As part of a larger global movement to develop fair and sustainable practices in scholarly publishing, UVM Press privileges the interests of scholars, students, and the public at large. The UVM Press publishes books and journals aligned with UVM’s core research strengths, including topics that advance the health and betterment of the environment, civic engagement, and Vermont history and culture.

The provost, who appoints UVM Press Faculty Advisory Board members, seeks expressions of interest. If you would like to serve or to nominate a colleague, please send a brief note and your CV to Faith Morgan (faith.morgan[at]uvm.edu) no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026.
