The UVM Press is staffed by two editorial directors, each of whom provide consultation, strategy, editorial, and production services customized for each publishing project. They are supported by UVM student interns who are learning about careers in writing, editing, and publishing.

Aimee Diehl, Editorial Director

A professional writer-editor, project manager, and creative consultant, Aimee Diehl led the multi-year, diamond open access journal publishing project that laid the groundwork for re-establishing the University of Vermont Press in June 2023. She is the inaugural editorial director of the UVM Press journals division, a position that allows her to advocate for equitable, accessible publishing while collaborating with diverse scholars throughout North America. Aimee has more than 20 years of organizational and higher education strategic communications experience, most recently at Middlebury College. She holds an M.A. in communications from Marquette University and a B.A. in journalism and gender studies from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Caroline Deir
Caroline Deir is a sophomore at the University of Vermont studying biological sciences and wildlife biology on the pre-medical track. She was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she developed a passion for designing, editing, and publishing through her high school’s yearbook organization. This passion grew during her freshman year of college, when she worked for Josten’s, a manufacturer of high school and college memorabilia, helping proof high school yearbook editorials. In her free time, Caroline enjoys mountain biking, climbing, hot yoga, and losing in intramural hockey. She is excited to intern with UVM Press this semester and cannot wait to see how the organization grows.

Rosali Hernandez
A first-year environmental engineering major from Houston, Texas, Rosali Hernandez aims to pursue a career in conservation and social justice that improves the wellbeing of others. By taking advanced science and language credits in high school, she found her interest in environmental preservation and civil equity that is globally impactful. Rosali is also a passionate artist who spends her free time creating multimedia art, attending live music shows, writing poetry, and playing guitar, bass, and drums. Through working with the UVM Press, she hopes to contribute to its mission and commit her efforts to making knowledge free and accessible to everyone.
